Many people wonder if their original, high-resolution photos can be downloaded from SmugMug onto their own computers — or onto the computers of their favorite people around the world.
You can always download your high-resolution images. Your visitors can, too, if you enable the option? in your Customize Gallery settings.
Single image downloading
Method 1: If the option is turned on, move your mouse over the main image in a galley. You'll see a save photo icon.
Click it. That's all there is to it.
Method 2: Alternatively, you can move your mouse over the main image in a gallery and click on original.
The photo will be displayed (it could be very large). Right-click (Windows) anywhere on the photo and a small menu will pop up; choose Save Image As...
Bulk image downloading
For the adventurous, we developed a bulk downloading application called SmugDav. You can find it here. Although it is still in its experimental stage, many SmugMug users use it and love it. You'll find tips and troubleshooting for SmugDav on this thread of our online forum, dgrin.com.
Also, one of our favorite customers came up with AlbumFetcher. It works a charm and you can read all about it here.
